IT IS THE DUTY OF PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS TO OPEN THEIR COURTYARDS FOR THEIR CITIZENS

Freedom Square welcomes the initiative between the City of Skopje and the Faculty of Architecture to open the faculty park for the citizens of Skopje.

We hope that it will not be the only one, because only in Debar Maalo there are several public institutions with exceptionally green courtyards (practically small parks), which are only used by several employees throughout the day to smoke cigarettes.

Debar Maalo is a densely populated residential neighborhood, inundated with cars and audio pollution. The emancipation of green spaces can only improve the low quality of life there. In fact, in the conclusions of our research from 2015, – the conducted inventory of trees in Karpos 4 and Debar Maalo states:

One comes to this conclusion with a simple walk through Debar Maalo, and additional counts and measurements confirm the same. In this context, we once again welcome the cooperation between the two public institutions, and we call on the Ministry of Culture to act on the request of Freedom Square from August 2017, in which it was requested that this institution open its own park for the citizens. This request was supported by the initiatives LD Solidarnost, Defending Debar Maalo, as well as individual citizens, residents of Debar Maalo.
